All About Mrs. Dombrowski
My name is Mrs. Dombrowski and I am entering my 11th year of teaching and 1st year at North Polk High School.. I grew up in a small little town outside of Peoria, Illinois. I graduated from Eureka College in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Mathematics with Teacher Certification. I earned my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Saint Xavier University in Chicago in 2011 and my Educational Specialist in Secondary Math Education from Kennesaw State University in 2018. I have 6 years of experience teaching Algebra 1, 7 years of teaching Geometry, 2 years of teaching Algebra 2, and 1 year of teaching 7th and 8th grade math. I have taught math in Illinois, Michigan, Georgia, and now Iowa!
Not only am I a math teacher, but I am also a teacher leader. I earned my teacher leader endorsement in 2016. Some of my teacher leadership includes being a department chair for 3 years, being a facilitator for new math teacher academies (3 years), serving on textbook review committees for textbook publishers, presenting professional learning to teachers school and district wide (on topics such as teaching math conceptually, effective grading and homework practices, developing growth mindsets in a math classroom, and using data effectively), mentoring student teachers, and facilitating assessment design and review for district assessment measures. I have also been awarded Teacher of the Year. In addition to leading teachers, I also coached competition and football sideline cheerleading for 5 years.

I married my husband, Tim, in July 2012. He works at Iowa State University where he is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Volleyball, Gymnastics, and Tennis. We just moved from Georgia to Iowa in May for his job with ISU. We love to travel (Jamaica is our favorite travel spot), cook, and find various projects to do around our house. We have two furbabies, Tucker (lab mix dog) and Carter (tiger striped cat). We also have a tiny human, Evelyn, who was just born in May.
